For some of you, this place may not be unfamiliar, as the premises once housed the Friesenkeller and the VLET Kitchen & Bar. Although the restaurants are no longer there, the spirit of culinary excellence and hospitality remains!

The Kleine Alster can accommodate up to 140 guests for a seated dinner and up to 300 for a standing reception. Whether it’s an evening event, birthday, Christmas party, summer festival, or wedding — here you celebrate, chat, and network in a unique atmosphere.

Historic and modern — it’s the perfect mix!

Located beneath the Alster Arcades, the Kleine Alster is part of Hamburg’s historic downtown district. Here, the philosophy of “historic façade on the outside, modern and cozy ambiance on the inside” meets stylish design. A beautiful maritime blue blends with copper accents and matching furnishings in both the front and rear areas. The space is divided by a cold-flame fireplace, adding that special touch to every event.

Meet at the bar

Another highlight — besides the direct view of the Town Hall — is the integrated design bar at the front area of the Kleine Alster. Nestled between the characteristic columns, this bar is not only a visual delight but also the perfect spot for a reception.

The spacious layout of the location and the modern kitchen make culinary dreams come true. Whether you desire a multi-course menu or a diverse buffet — our in-house NORD EVENT catering creates specialties and delicacies using regional and seasonal ingredients. While the NORD EVENT professional chefs chop, fry, and plate, you can step into the culinary “sacred halls,” watch them at work, and ask questions about the dishes.

Out onto our pontoon, out onto the water!

The location is not only situated directly on the Kleine Alster — thanks to its own pontoon, you can even celebrate on the water and perfectly extend your event: for example, with a summer festival reception or a mulled wine gathering on the floating pontoon. Here’s a little scenario for how you could experience your dream wedding at Kleine Alster: Starting with unique wedding photos after the civil ceremony against the stunning backdrop of the Town Hall — an unbeatable setting. For a more intimate setting, you can even invite your registrar directly to Kleine Alster and hold your ceremony on the pontoon! Alternatively, you can welcome your guests there after the photo shoot with a sparkling drink and toast your marriage while our service team serves small finger food specialties on trays.

Afterwards, you’ll enjoy your catering at festively set tables with your loved ones, listen to moving speeches, and take on—last but not least—your most important task: cutting your wedding cake from our NORD EVENT patisserie together.
